How to Extend Your Phone Battery Life
Are you tired of dragging your phone charger around like an annoying boyfriend's brother who insists on tagging along everywhere? Sick of your phone battery dropping faster than a goal in the national football team's net after the first referee's whistle? Well, this article is for you! Whether we use our phones for entertainment, work, or watching videos, we need to preserve the battery life to ensure it serves us faithfully. Today, we'll give you several tips to extend your phone's battery life.
1. Overheating and Cold
Two things that can significantly harm your battery are overheating and exposure to extremely low temperatures. Overheating is one of the most common problems. It can be "achieved" in several ways. The most popular is using and loading the phone while charging. Battery overheating leads to unnecessary chemical reactions that shorten its life.
Another common problem is exposing the phone to very low temperatures. For example, during winter, we often keep the phone in our pocket, which negatively affects the battery and shortens its lifespan.
2. Phone Charging Method
Next, we'll look at the method of charging the phone and the chargers we use. Very often, using non-original chargers or those with very high power can negatively impact the battery and shorten its future life. We recommend always using original chargers to ensure full functionality and longer battery charge.
3. Background Applications
Another reason for battery life reduction is using background applications that constantly drain the battery. This affects the phone very badly. In cases where we have no network coverage, the phone consumes even more battery, as searching for a network and wireless internet to run these applications leads to additional load.
4. CarPlay + Wireless Charging
Another example of phone overheating is using it for car communication through the CarPlay app. While CarPlay is on, we use navigation and listen to music, with other phone functions running in the background. This leads to significant battery drainage and phone overheating. Very often, simultaneously, we also use another function in the car, namely wireless charging. This truly creates a massive load and overheating of our phone. We advise you not to use car wireless charging when using CarPlay. This way, you'll extend your battery life.
5. Optimized Charging
There are several ways we can help the battery ourselves. Everything depends on how our phone is set up to work.
The first thing needed is for our phone to always have the latest operating system. Often, these operating systems have updates on how the phone works and charges the battery. This is very important because this way, the battery will be protected on a software level.
Another very important thing we recommend you do is to set battery charging to optimized charging. This way, the phone determines its own charging strength. Another thing that can be done through settings is to optimize notifications. In other words - notifications can be turned off for apps we don't check daily. This way, our phone's battery will be preserved for a longer time.
6. Charging the Battery from 20 to 80%
Another thing we recommend is charging the battery in the range of 20 to 80%. This way, its capacity is preserved the longest, and consequently, unnecessary charging cycles are not accumulated. From iPhone 15 onwards, Apple introduced a function where we can ourselves determine up to what percentage the battery should be charged, with percentages ranging from 80 to 100. This way, we preserve the battery and its life for much longer.
