Forgotten Password Recovery: How to Find Saved Passwords on iPhone and Android
Forgotten passwords are one of the most annoying things nowadays! You try to log into a website or app that you haven't used in a while, but you just can't remember what password you created when you set up your account. Don't worry, it happens to everyone! The good news is that if you use an iPhone or Android device, there's a quick and easy way to find your saved passwords. In today's blog post, we'll show you how to do this step by step, whether you're using iOS or Android.
1. How to View Your Saved Passwords on iPhone (iOS)
The first and most important requirement is that you need to be using the built-in iCloud Keychain password manager. Otherwise, the instructions below won't help you. Through iCloud Keychain, your login data is kept secure and accessible only to you. Here's how to view them:
First, open the "Settings" app. This is the gray icon with a gear. Then scroll down and select "Passwords." If you're using an older version, the menu is called "Passwords & Accounts." Then you need to select "Website & App Passwords."
The next step is to verify your identity. To do this, you'll need to use Face ID, Touch ID, or your phone's unlock password. Once you've done that, you can use the search function. In the search field at the top, type the name of the website or app where you have an account that you can't access due to a forgotten password (for example 'facebook.com', 'instagram.com', etc.).
After finding the desired account, tap on it. You'll then see the username and password, which you can view and copy. That's it!
2. How to View Your Saved Passwords on Android
If you're someone who uses Android devices, you need to sign in with the Google account where you've saved your passwords, as they're accessible through Google Password Manager. Here's how to access them:
The first step is to open "Settings" on your phone. Then tap on "Google" and select "Manage your Google Account." The next step is to switch to the "Security" tab, which is usually the fourth tab at the top. Then scroll down to "Password Manager." On some phones, this is also labeled as Google Password Manager.
A list of all the websites and apps for which you have saved passwords should appear. You need to select the website or app you're looking for (for example Facebook, Instagram, etc.). Then you need to verify your identity, which can be done with a fingerprint, PIN code, or Face Unlock. The username and password you want to view will be displayed. There's a possibility that the password is hidden and you may need to press an "eye" button to reveal it.
There's also another option: you can directly visit passwords.google.com from the Chrome browser to manage your passwords.
We hope that thanks to this article, you'll no longer have difficulties finding forgotten passwords. Whether you're using an iPhone or Android, your devices have built-in tools that keep your information secure and accessible exactly when you need it. If this article was helpful to you - share it with a friend who constantly forgets their passwords!
